Self Care for Mommies During Naptime

Self-care during nap time

Okay, I had to write this article, I know I cannot possibly be the only stay at home mom (SAHM) who spends almost all her “alone time” cleaning the house or writing a grocery list. I often find myself in a rut during my 17 month old daughters naps when I’m desperate for some me time, and I choose to instead take care of everything except for myself.

If I’m being honest, I’m writing this article to myself, to remind myself to step back and realize that there are small things I can do to take care of me during nap time. These things really should come before most other duties, especially when I often feel like I’m going to have a mental break down because of the heap of unfolded laundry that has been sitting upstairs for three days unfolded, and the garbage that has needed taken out for a week.

In the grand scheme of things, my well-being is more important, DAMNIT! I hope my realization of this can also help some of you other parents out there, our sanity has got this! These are some simple ideas that we can do during nap time to take care of ourselves.

Paint Nails

When is the last time you have done this? Its quick, easy and it makes us feel put together, the garbage can wait, paint your nails!

Clean Makeup Brushes

I finally did this for the first time in months, it was so quick to do, but I put everything before this and was wondering why my skin was breaking out so badly. Cleaning my brushes made me feel so much better about myself. It’s amazing how something so simple can really make us feel so much better about ourselves
